ABSTRACTS VAGANOVA BALLET ACADEMY: EXPERIENCES, TRADITIONS, PRACTICE O.I. Rozanova GOLDEN CHAIN OF CONTINUITY: TO THE ANNIVERSARY OF NATALIA. S. YANANIS The article is about Natalia S. Yananis, a prominent expert in the field of historical and domestic dancing, who has been working in Vaganova Ballet Academy for a long time by now. Gagarina TO THE ORIGIN OF THE NATIONAL BALLET IN FRANCE The article is devoted to European musical and theatrical forms of the 15 and 16th centuries, which have preceded the birth of the first ballet performance in France - «The Queen’s Comedy Ballet». The author studies the origin of the ballet as a specific kind of the national French theater influenced by some Italian and proper French artistic (vis. dance, theater, poetry) traditions. Makarova DANCING EXPRESSIVENESS OF BALLET DANCERS: TO THE QUESTION OF DEFINITIONS Essential connections between concepts, namely “psychophysiological capabilities of the dancer”, “beauty and musical talent of choreographic text execution”, “creation of an artistic image in a ballet performance” are the subject of this study which is based on an assumption that all these concepts are components of dancing expressiveness, understood as a professionally significant ability of a ballet dancer. Yepishin J. BALANCHINE AND S. PROKOFIEV: HISTORY OF FAILED COOPERATION (PART 3) The third part of the article is focused on aesthetic and stylistic reasons for the confrontation that arose between S. Prokofiev and J. Balanchine in the period of their joint work on ‘The Prodigal Son’ ballet. 150 Вестник Академии Русского балета им. А.Я. Вагановой. № 4 (45) 2016 The author believes that Balanchine created his ballet in accordance with the complementarity principle, which can explain the contradicting unity of ambivalent musical and choreographic components. He also argues that Prokofiev did not share the idea of complementarity in relation to music and choreography. That’s why the composer turned to lyrics of a ‘new simplicity’ style. Nikiforova “POLITICS OF DANCE” AS A CONCEPT The concept of “Politics of Dance” is widely used in the Humanities of Western Europe and North America, while Russian researchers refer to it carefully. It intends a specific approach, meaning dance and ballet as participants of social values creation process. There is polyphony of meanings (viz. class, gender, nationality, ethnicity and race) in a cultural text discovered by the author in the plane of socio-cultural inequalities as well as in the dominance and submission dichotomy of relations. Mainly foreign researchre’s works dedicated to Early Modern court dances, Romantic ballet and Stage folk dance were used for semantic nuances observation of the concept. Urazymbetov INNOVATIVE SEARCH OF MINTAI TLEUBAEV IN THE NATIONAL BALLET “AKSAK KULAN” An independent analysis of the national ballet “Aksak kulan” directed by Mintai Tleubaev is carried out for the first time. The author made an attempt to fix the trend of convergence of classical and national kazakh dances from the very beginning of the musical art of Kazakhstan. The article discusses M. Tleubaev’s concepts of choreography and direction. Some advantages and disadvantages of the performance are also identified. Berezutsky BALLET DANCERS’ JOINT HYPERMOBILITY SYNDROME (PART 2) The article is devoted to ballet-dancer primary and secondary arthropathy prevention. The author comes to the conclusion that a preventive service system of periodic ultrasound and tomographic investigations as well as physical rehabilitation complexes of massage, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, which are already used in professional sport medidne, should соте to a training program of ballet dancers. Privalov SURGICAL CORRECTION OF HALLUX VALGUS DEFORMITY Relevant for individuals involved in choreography and sports, the problem of surgical correction of valgus deformity of the first toe is in focus of the article. It presents the results of treatment of 27 patients who became the patients of MEDEM clinic during the period from 2014 to 2015. The author analyzes the results of 48 operations carried out in different (SCARF, Austin-osteotomy simulating resection of metatarsal head by subcutaneous surgery) surgical techniques. The article also contains a comparative analysis of preoperative and postoperative conditions of patients. The author comes to the conclusion that modern surgical techniques allow early physical rehabilitation and social adaptation of patients. Kuznetsova METHODS OF ACOUSTIC EVALUATION OF OPERA HOUSES A detailed review of studies on acoustic methods for opera houses evaluation is presented in this article. It contains the main objective acoustic parameters and also explains the limits of the parameters’ change. The article describes methods for evaluating subjective parameters applied to classical opera houses. Some objectively measured indoor sound field parameters are compared with subjective acoustic qualities. The author considers the above parameters in such examples as: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Covent Garden in London, National Theatre in Prague, Vienna Opera House and Metropolitan Opera in New York. Eismont STRUCTURE AND MEANING: ON THE PERCEPTION OF MUSIC BY UNTRAINED LISTENER The article discusses the problem of music understanding by untrained listeners. According to the results of experimental studies based on associations and semantic differential the authors prove that there is a strict dependency between music perception and previous music experience of the listeners. 152 Вестник Академии Русского балета им. Вагановой. № 4 (45) 2016 If a listener is familiar with a music fragment, it becomes a part of a particular cognitive structure (frame). in this case the meaning of the whole frame is understood as the meaning of that music fragment. If a listener has never known that fragment before, its understanding is limited with emotional perception, which is thought to be its meaning. VSEVOLOZHSKY The article deals with caricatures which are significant part of I.A. Vsevolozhsky’ artistic heritage. Tchaikovsky and N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov letters of 1870s are analyzed in this article. All of them are dedicated to String Quartet (F-dur), which is the first work of Rimsky-Korsakov performed in the manner of chamber-instrumental music. DOSTOEVSKY’S “NOVEL-TRAGEDY” The article is devoted to the paradoxical development of Russian literary and theatrical process in 1860-1870s, characterized by coexistence of two genres: “calm” and analytical A.N. Shekalov VLADIMIR NIELSEN AND ORGAN The article highlights the little-known work of the outstanding Russian pianist Vladimir Nielsen dedicated to organ performance. The author examines the reasons and the story of Nielson becoming a professional organist. V. Shekslov makes an attempt to evaluate achievements of the organist. Menshikov ZEN AND ANTI-ART The article focuses on the formation of an anti-art movement under a powerful impact of Zen philosophy. Some creative practices of Fluxus artists dating back to the second half of the 20th century are considered. The importance of Zen philosophy for the artistic activities is also proved. It is argued the idea that Fluxus became the foundation for the other avant-guard art performances due to its parental relationship with the other artists in conjunction with life responsiveness and peculiar postmodern sensitiveness. In a context of Zen philosophy different creative approaches of Fluxus, aiming to destroy any boundaries between art and life, are described in the article.
