Author Guidelines

Requirements for materials submitted for publication in the «Bulletin of the Vaganova Ballet Academy»

1. Articles submitted for publication in the academic journal Bulletin of the «Bulletin of the Vaganova Ballet Academy» (hereinafter - Herald) should be original, not previously published in other printed or electronic media materials.

1. 1. Authors send materials in accordance with these Requirements, by email or regular mail.

1. 2. The fee from the authors for the articles publication will not be charged.

1. 3. In accordance with paragraphs 4, 5, 7 of the Regulations, materials provided for publication are reviewed for their academic relevance, value and theoretical level.

2. Composition and volume of materials.

2.1. The recommended length of an article is 17-23 thousand printed characters (including spaces).

2. 2. Articles submitted for publication in the Bulletin must include the following elements:

• UDC index which reflects the theme of the article;

• surname, first name, patronymic of the author (authors);

• title of the article (in Russian and English);

• the main part;

• notes and bibliographic references;

• abstract of the article (50-100 words) and key words (5-10 words) in Russian;

• abstract of the article (name, patronymic, surname of the author / co-authors and the title of the article) and keywords in English;

• information about the author in Russian and English (full name, main place of work, academic degree, full official name of the university, faculty, department, job title, e-mail, phone number with area code);

• letter of reference or a review provided by a Doctor / Candidate of Sciences in the corresponding academic field (for graduate and post-graduate students of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet a review of the supervisor / consultant is required),  certified by the official stamped of the faculty, the university administration or the personnel department of the university (See Appendix №2).

• These materials (text of the article, abstract, review, information about the author) should be available as separate text files with the name provided in the following format: the name of the first author + Art (eg. Ivanov Art.rtf, Ivanov Abstr.rtf ).

2.3. General rules for the text layout.

• All materials should be available in electronic form to set the size of A4 paper, typed in Microsoft Word format rtf; font Times New Roman; font 12pt, 1.5 line spacing; font color - black; formatted to the left.

• Page Setup: top, bottom and right margins - 25 mm, left margin - 30 mm. Paragraph indent in the text should be 12 mm (in footnotes and after text (endnotes) indented paragraphs are not required). Pages are numbered, headers and footers are not created.

• To emphasize the text elements it is recommended to use italics, bold italics, bold lines. Underlining the text and formatting it freely is undesirable.

2.4. Illustrations.

• All illustrations must be submitted as separate graphic images (JPG or TIF; size min - 90x120 mm, max - 130x120 mm, resolution 300 dpi).

• All illustrations should be numbered (Arabic numerals, sequentially numbered),  explained, if necessary, have explanatory details (caption text).

2.5.Tables.

• All tables should have explanatory details that reflect its contents. The table should be placed directly after the paragraph in which it is mentioned for the first time. A table with a large number of rows may be transferred to another page.

• When preparing the tables one should take into account that Herald has no technical capability to produce inserts for multi-column tables that do not fit the full spread journal format.

2.6. Notes, references and bibliographic description of sources.

• Notes are removed from the text of the document down page (footnotes).

• References to literature sources (including electronic resources of local and remote access) should be in the form of after text bibliographic descriptions in accordance with GOST 7.0.5-2008 Bibliographic references.

• Sequential numbering throughout the text should be in the order of mentioning. Sequence number of bibliographic records should be given in square brackets in the text of the article [10]. When referring to the page number data should be separated by a comma: [10, p. 81].

3. The editors reserve the right to reject articles submitted by the author for publication on the basis of non-compliance with these requirements.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one line spacing, font Times New Roman, 12 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
